Description
Characteristics and Tasting Tips for the Bourgogne Côte d'Or "Les Louères" 2024 by Jean-Charles Fagot
Tasting notes
Colour
This Chardonnay shows a pale yellow colour with golden highlights, clear and luminous, typical of a white wine still marked by its youth.
Nose
The nose opens with fresh citrus notes, accompanied by white flowers and stone fruits such as peach and apricot. A touch of fresh butter and a hint of chalky minerality complete this aromatic palette.
Palate
The attack is lively, driven by a distinct acidity that structures the whole. The texture is creamy, bringing volume and a balance between freshness and indulgence, before a long finish revealing a slight salinity, an echo of the clay-limestone terroir.
Food and wine pairings
This wine is an ideal match for a seafood or crayfish gratin, poultry served with a creamy sauce, or a ripened cheese, as well as Burgundy snails. It also pairs beautifully with grilled fish and white meats cooked over a wood fire.
Serving and cellaring
The Bourgogne Côte d'Or "Les Louères" 2024 is best enjoyed at a temperature between 11 and 13°C, in order to preserve its tension and the precision of its aromas.
A Côte de Beaune Chardonnay Crafted by Jean-Charles Fagot in Corpeau
The estate
Founded in 1920 in Corpeau, in the heart of the Côte de Beaune between Puligny-Montrachet and Chassagne-Montrachet, Jean-Charles Fagot is now run by Jean-Charles Fagot, the fifth generation of the family to live in this Burgundy village. After an initial career in the arts, he took over the family vineyards in the 1990s and also runs the Auberge du Vieux Vigneron. As both a grower-winemaker and a négociant-éleveur, he cultivates approximately three hectares following the principles of integrated viticulture, with an artisanal approach deeply attached to the terroir.
The vineyard
The Chardonnay parcels destined for the Bourgogne Côte d'Or "Les Louères" are planted on clay-limestone soils typical of the Côte de Beaune. The vines, around forty years old, are managed according to the principles of integrated viticulture, with controlled yields that favour the concentration of the grapes and the expression of this Burgundy terroir.
Vinification and ageing
The harvest is carried out by hand, followed by a gentle pressing aimed at preserving the purity of the juice. After fermentation, the Bourgogne Côte d'Or "Les Louères" 2024 is aged in oak foudres complemented by barrels, generally for ten to fourteen months. This work on the lees helps develop a creamy texture while preserving the wine's acidic tension.
