The estate
Located 60 kilometers south of Lyon, on the upper hillside of the commune of Limony, the Domaine Louis Chèze is a jewel of the right bank of the Rhône. Founded in 1978 by Mr. Louis Chèze, this family estate endures on the foothills of the northern Côtes du Rhône. Mr. Chèze began his wine adventure with a humble hectare of Saint-Joseph and a few rented vines. The estate now extends over the prestigious appellations of Condrieu and Saint-Joseph.
The vineyard
This wine from the Rhône Valley comes from a 2-hectare plot of old vines located at 300 meters altitude on the hillsides of Limony. With a south and south-east orientation, the vineyard reflects the delicacy and finesse of syrah. Managed in a sustainable way, the 50-year-old vines thrive on granitic terroir.
Winemaking and aging
Harvested manually, the berries are sorted on the vine and on the table. Maceration and fermentation take place in temperature-controlled vats. Aging is carried out in new oak barrels for 22 months.
Grape variety
Syrah (100%).
