Characteristics and tasting notes for the Chassagne-Montrachet Village 2023 by Louis Jadot

Tasting

Appearance
The colour reveals a hue ranging from pale yellow to golden yellow, enhanced by a beautiful brilliance.

Nose
Complex and aromatic, the nose exudes subtle notes of white flowers, citrus fruits and stone fruits. The barrel ageing brings delicate touches of vanilla, fresh butter and toasted bread.

Palate
The attack is ample and reveals a rich, full-bodied and perfectly balanced material. The creamy texture harmonises with a beautiful tension, leading to a finish of great persistence.

Food and wine pairings

This white wine pairs wonderfully with poultry in creamy sauce, noble crustaceans such as lobster, or pressed cheeses like reblochon.

Serving and cellaring

For optimal tasting, it is recommended to serve this Chassagne-Montrachet Village 2023 at a temperature between 12 and 14 °C. This wine can be enjoyed today but will continue to evolve favourably until around 2038.

The elegance and richness of a white Burgundy wine

The estate

Founded in 1859 by Louis Henry Denis Jadot, the Maison Louis Jadot is a leading institution. Established in the heart of Beaune, it shines throughout the world while maintaining strong local roots. Owned by the American group Kobrand Fine Wine & Spirits since 1985, the estate is now managed by Thomas Seiter. With a production combining volume and quality demands, the house stands out for its own cooperage and its deep commitment to sustainable viticulture that respects the terroirs of Burgundy.

The vineyard

This wine comes from the Chassagne-Montrachet appellation, located in the prestigious Côte des Blancs, south of the Côte de Beaune. The grapes come from communal parcels cultivated by rigorously selected partner winegrowers. This terroir is characterised by a mosaic of limestone, marl and clay-limestone soils benefiting from varied exposures, thus giving the wines of this area their emblematic power and structure.

The vintage

The 2023 vintage was marked by climatic challenges, with periods of intense heat and variable weather. Despite these sunny conditions, rigorous vineyard management made it possible to reach optimal maturity while preserving the freshness of the berries.

Winemaking and ageing

The grapes for the Chassagne-Montrachet Village 2023 are harvested by hand in small crates in order to preserve the integrity of the berries. A gentle pressing is then carried out to extract the juices with care. Fermentation takes place in oak barrels from the house's own cooperage, of which about one third are new. Finally, the wine benefits from careful ageing on fine lees for around fifteen months.

Grape variety

100% Chardonnay.
