Vinum

Floral nose, lots of fruit, open like a barn door; slender palate, juicy, crisp, well-judged tannins, medium length. Uncomplicated drinking pleasure with class.

Decanter

Fragrant on the nose, perfumed and floral, with lots of dark purple flowers and fruit. Tangy and vibrant, really alive on the palate, a good burst of acidity with chalky, powdery, graphite-edged tannins giving structure and a sense of straightness. A little compact and tight on the finish, the fruit just tapering, but with lovely precision and detail all the way through. Feels quite charged with a firm backbone and long length. Ageing for 12 months, 20% new oak. 3.6 pH, 69 IPT. A yield of 55 hl/ha.

Flowers, currants, spice, and mint fill the perfume. Forward, easy-to-like, medium-bodied, fresh, and fruity, with a dab of cocoa on the finish, this is a perfect easy, drinking charmer. The wine blends 59% Merlot, 37% Cabernet Sauvignon, and 4% Petit Verdot. 13% ABV. Drink from 2026-2033. 89-91 pts.

Jane Anson

Jane Anson

Chewy, juicy and mouthwatering blueberry and blackberry fruit. Clear lift through the palate, with edges of raspberry leaf and a touch of austerity on the tannins, given focus by anise and liquorice spice. Harvest September 8 to October 3 across all their plots. 20% new oak. Vines from Listrac (35ha), Moulis (3ha) and Haut-Médoc (10ha) as of the 2020 vintage.

Le Figaro Vin

Score: 89–91. Very juicy, the nose is suave and perfumed with ripe fruit aromas. Flirtatious, the palate is lively and bright. The tannins melt into a velvety texture before a delicately peppery finish.

Falstaff

Falstaff

Dark ruby, opaque core, purple reflections, delicate edge brightening. Delicately leafy black cherry fruit with a hint of liquorice and orange zest. Complex, juicy, a hint of blueberry, ripe tannins, freshly structured, lively, lemon finish.

A fresh and generous Haut-Médoc wine

The estate

Icon of the left bank, the Château Ducru-Beaucaillou is undoubtedly one of the greatest names in the Bordeaux region. The 2nd Cru Classé in the Official Classification of 1855 embodies the perfect model of a great Saint-Julien. Entered into the Borie family in 1941, Château Ducru-Beaucaillou takes its name from its extraordinary terroir. Led with brilliance and determination by the talented Bruno Borie, Ducru-Beaucaillou belongs to the elite of the great wines of Saint-Julien.

The vineyard

Deposited along the river, the gravels dating from the Günz ice age have forged the identity of the terroir of the Château Ducru-Beaucaillou vineyard. Located near the Gironde estuary, the vines giving birth to this Haut-Médoc wine benefit from an exceptional microclimate and the thermal regulating role of the river.

The vintage

If the winter mildness favours an early bud break at the end of March, the month of May is marked by a homogeneous flowering and fruit set, thanks to the combination of warm and dry conditions. Early and rapid, the flowering started on May 22nd suggests a significant yield potential. The almost tropical humidity during the summer reinforces a mildew pressure mastered by the know-how of the teams. From mid-August, the high temperatures and low rainfall ensure optimal ripening of the berries while preserving a beautiful freshness.

Vinification and ageing

Ageing for 12 months.

Blend
