Description

Characteristics and tasting tips for Mondot 2019

Tasting

This wine from Saint-Émilion seduces with its density, balance and also its harmonious alliance between a fruity structure and a beautiful freshness.

A supple and intense wine from Saint-Émilion

The estate

On the right bank of Bordeaux where most estates hardly exceed 10 hectares, the Château Troplong Mondot is one of the largest estates in Saint-Émilion. Founded in 1700, this Premier Grand Cru Classé is at the top of the Saint-Émilion appellation.

The vineyard

A reference among the great wines of Saint-Émilion, Château Troplong Mondot oversees a single vineyard of 43 hectares, peaking at 110 meters in altitude. The vineyard is entirely managed using sustainable viticulture. The vines, averaging 30 years old, are grown on typical clay-limestone soils of the appellation.

Vinification and ageing

The ageing in stainless steel tanks, accounting for 40% of the process, allows the development of the wine's aromatic intensity, its density as well as its tension conferred by the limestone soils.
