Tasting
Color
The color reveals a red hue with purple highlights, reflecting the youth of the vintage.
Nose
The bouquet unveils expressive aromas of red fruits, notably cherry, accompanied by elegant floral notes. Nuances of mandarin and wild strawberry bring a fresh and gourmand dimension to the overall aromatic profile.
Palate
On the palate, this wine seduces with its sensual and juicy texture, revealing a full-bodied character while retaining a certain finesse. The very fine tannins support a balanced structure, while the dry finish reveals a mineral austerity characteristic of the terroir.
Serving and Cellaring
The Quiñón de Valmira 2023 can be enjoyed now but will reveal its full potential after its fifth year in bottle, from around 2028 onward. It offers excellent aging potential thanks to its structure and minerality.

The Estate
The link that binds the Palacios Remondo family to winemaking tradition dates back to 1651. Building on this heritage, José Palacios Remondo took over the family estate, planting the best traditional Rioja varieties and truly bringing the Palacios Remondo Estate to life. He passed away in 2000, having worked with passion and dedication to transform the landscape of winemaking in Spain, passing on his qualitative vision and his desire for international expansion to his sons, both of whom studied oenology in Bordeaux and trained at some of the finest Bordeaux estates.
The Vineyard
Located in the eastern part of the Rioja Baja region, north of the town of Alfaro in Spain, the Palacios Remondo estate covers around a hundred hectares of vineyards, benefiting from an optimal location at the foot of the Yerga mountain. The vineyards planted on rolling slopes enjoy excellent southeast exposure at altitudes of up to 550 m.
The Wine
The unique Quiñón de Valmira vineyard covers 3 hectares in the DOCa Rioja region, on the slopes of the Yerga mountain in Alfaro. Situated at 616 meters above sea level with a southeast exposure, it benefits from a Mediterranean climate with Atlantic influence. The Quaternary soils, 20 cm thick, rest on carbonated sedimentations with volcanic colluvium, covered by carbonate clay, sand and silt. These poor and cold soils, characterized by their distinctive white color, impart the wine’s particular minerality.
Grape Varieties
85 % Grenache and 15 % other local red grape varieties, from 37-year-old vines trained as bush vines according to the traditional methods of Alfaro and certified organic.
