Description
IWA releases an elegant and complex sake blend
The estate
Created in 2018 by the former head of the Dom Pérignon Champagne House cellar, Richard Geoffroy, IWA is a sake brand that is the result of his frequent trips to Japan. Richard Geoffroy today offers an avant-garde approach to sake, combining tradition and contemporary techniques.
Farming area
IWA 5 Assemblage 2 Sake is made in Toyoma, western Japan, from three rice varieties: Yamada Nishiki (Hyogo and Toyama Prefectures), Omachi (Okayama Prefecture) and Gohyakumangoko (Toyama Prefecture).
Sake
IWA 5 Assemblage 2 is part of a new chapter in the history of sake. IWA 5 is the first sake blend and one of the few with significant ageing potential. Three varieties of rice, five strains of yeast and reserve sakes make up the blend of this exceptional spirit.
It is presented in a dark bottle with a velvet patina created by designer Marc Newson. The IWA calligraphy, in white glass, was created by calligrapher Mariko Kinoshita, in collaboration with designer Hideki Nakajima.
