An intense and expressive Japanese Single Malt from the Yuza distillery
The Yuza Distillery: Japanese craftsmanship in perfection
Founded in 2018 in the Yamagata region of northeastern Japan, the Yuza distillery embodies the "TLAS" (Tiny, Lovely, Authentic and Supreme) philosophy, derived from the Sake tradition. Located near Mount Chokai, it uses the pure spring water from the local stream to produce excellent Japanese whiskies. Owned by local Master Distillers who prioritize quality over quantity, Yuza distinguishes itself through traditional aging in Bourbon casks, although some special editions explore aging in Sherry casks. This artisanal approach gives their Single Malts a unique signature that combines authentic Japanese tradition and technical excellence in the contemporary world of Japanese whisky.
Magazine IB Japanese Craft Collection: an exceptional collaboration
This Yuza Single Malt belongs to the prestigious Magazine IB Japanese Craft Collection, the result of a collaboration between Hua Yang and Whisky Magazine in 2022. This exclusive series pays tribute to Japanese craftsmanship with independent bottlings from craft distilleries, including a Chichibu 7 Year Old, a Yuza 7 Year Old, and a Sakuro 3 Year Old. Contrary to Yuza's usual practices, which favor Bourbon casks, this special edition has undergone aging in Sherry casks, giving this Japanese whisky its unique personality.
