Taylor's : Very Old Single Harvest Port 1969

It's the annual release of a 50 year-old tawny from this house, in this case from a rather late harvest, delayed by a cool September which followed a particularly wet winter and the usual hot summer. Pretty greenish tawny colour – very transparent. Not pure joy. It does smell a little woody and doesn't have that much drive or purity. But it certainly isn't bad! A bit hard and metallic on the end. More of a date than a wine? (JR)
