A refined and elegant Chilean wine from Central Valley
The estate
Since 1870, the Chadwick family has upheld the tradition of great Chilean wines initiated by Don Maximiano Errázuriz, founder of Viña Errázuriz in the Aconcagua Valley.
Located in Puente Alto, in the Maipo Valley, Viñedo Chadwick pays tribute to Don Alfonso Chadwick Errázuriz, father of Eduardo Chadwick. A visionary and passionate man, he founded in the 1930s the first wine brokerage house in Chile, then acquired nearly 300 hectares in 1942 with the ambition of modernizing Chilean viticulture and expanding its international influence. At the head of Viña Errázuriz from 1983, he was joined by his son Eduardo, who has continued this pursuit of excellence since 1993.
Also a major figure in Chilean polo, Don Alfonso had a field built on the family estate, of which two goalposts still remain today, now integrated into an emblematic parcel producing exceptional wines in his honor.
The vineyard
This Central Valley estate covers 15 hectares of cabernet sauvignon planted in 1992, producing rare wines renowned for their finesse, freshness, and elegance. In 2004, during the famous “Berlin Tasting,” the 2000 vintage ranked first ahead of prestigious Italian and Bordeaux wines. In 2016, the 2014 vintage received a perfect score of 100/100 from James Suckling.
The wine
2023 marks the 25th vintage of this exceptional cuvée. Each bottle features a special design to celebrate the occasion.
The vintage
A slightly wetter-than-average winter helped build strong water reserves, while ideal spring and summer conditions ensured even ripening. Warm days and cool nights enhanced aromatic concentration and color. High temperatures at the end of the cycle led to an early harvest, carried out with great consistency in ripeness. An overall warm season in Maipo Valley, allowing for the production of a wine that combines freshness and structure while fully expressing the quality of the terroir.
Winemaking and aging
Rigorous sorting of the grapes. Parcel-by-parcel fermentation. Gentle extraction. The aging of this Chilean wine lasts 18 months in new French oak barrels (90%), complemented by large oak casks (10%).
Blend
Cabernet sauvignon (96%) and petit verdot (4%).
