Vinum

Dark-fruited, with black cherries, a touch of tobacco, dark chocolate, licorice and a cool fireplace note on the nose; the attack is soft and round, then it builds plenty of drive through the mid-palate, while being less massive than in other years. Grippy, ripe limestone tannins give it structure; the acidity is perfectly calibrated and carries the wine into an almost never-ending finish. This is a small wine monument and, without a doubt, the best Bellefont-Belcier I’ve had the chance to taste so far.

Decanter

Gorgeous vibrant colour in the glass. Fragranced purple flower aspects in the glass. Supple and well textured straight away, this takes hold in the mouth and doesn’t let go with such a delightful grip - not fleshy but filling, not overly ripe, more cool with a fresh mint and flint undercurrent. Velvety, sumptuous, round, enveloping but charming with such a delicate, textured finish, chalky but soft. Excellent expression. Very St-Emilion. Delicate and hands off while still giving so much complexity and energy. 3.48pH. A yield of 33hlha.

Licorice, flowers, cherries, plums, chocolate, crushed rocks, and cinnamon fill the perfume. The palate is where the wine shines, with layers of silky, sweet, creamy, polished fruit. The wine is medium-bodied, elegant, refined, and, most importantly, pure. The finish is long, intense, and expansive. The length sneaks up on you; just when you think it's over, there is more to come. This is the best vintage of Bellefont Belcier produced yet. The wine blends 70% Merlot, 20% Cabernet Franc, and 10% Cabernet Sauvignon. 14% ABV. Harvesting took place September 5 - September 23. Yields were 33 hectoliters per hectare. Drink from 2030-2055. 95-97 Pts

Sweet berry fruit, shows lovely grip and clear limestone signature without sacrificing flesh. Raspberry, blood orange, pomegranate, wet stones, grilled cumin, incense, oyster shell rise through the palate. Harvest September 5 to 23. 30% new oak. 3.48 pH. Yield 33 hl/ha, JC Meyrou director, Emmanuelle d'Aligny-Fulchi technical director.

The symbiosis of ripe dark berry notes with iris and mint highlights the wine’s multifaceted character. Not to mention the chalky nuances, true ambassadors of the terroir! Then there is the finesse, reflecting the team’s meticulous work from vineyard to cellar. Slightly creamy on the attack, the wine gains substance as it glides across the palate. It shows a velvety texture, supported by compact, powerful tannins. The latter reveal an austere edge, helping to reinforce freshness and length. A brilliant wine in the way it so seamlessly blends charm and power, culminating in a harmony that is as striking as it is uplifting. Yes—paradoxes can sometimes make the best companions in the world.

Description

Characteristics and Tasting Notes of Château Bellefont-Belcier 2025

Tasting

Nose
The aromatic bouquet reveals great complexity, harmoniously blending floral and spicy notes with a beautiful diversity of fruits. Aromas of plum, blackberry, cedar, and mint leaf bear witness to a balanced ripeness and perfectly integrated oak.

Palate
On the palate, this wine stands out for its silky texture, refined elegance, and remarkable mineral framework. The fruit flavors express themselves with purity, supported by well-melded tannins that structure the whole without weighing it down. The long, persistent finish concludes on beautiful mineral notes, offering a finale that is both dry and distinguished.

Food and Wine Pairings
This cuvée pairs wonderfully with beef dishes that highlight the natural taste of the meat, accompanied by subtle sauces. It also enhances preparations based on lamb, duck, or roasted poultry with herbs. Finally, game such as venison, hare, or pheasant, served with sauces of rustic character, make for first-rate gastronomic pairings.

Serving and Cellaring
To fully appreciate this vintage, it is recommended to decant it before serving and to enjoy it at a temperature between 16 and 18°C. Endowed with excellent potential, this wine can be cellared and enjoyed until around 2042.

An Elegant Saint-Émilion Grand Cru Classé with Beautiful Vivacity

The Estate
The Château Bellefont-Belcier was purchased in 1889 by the Faure family who, through innovation and hard work, turned it into one of the jewels of the Bordeaux region. In 1994, it became the property of the company BJL & Partenaires, which gave new life to this Grand Cru Classé on the right bank of Bordeaux by modernizing its facilities while respecting the various terroirs. Château Bellefont-Belcier has changed hands several times in recent years before joining Vignobles K, owned by Hong Kong businessman Peter Kwok, in 2017.

The Vineyard
Ideally located in the western sector of Saint-Émilion, this 14-hectare vineyard spreads across varied soils composed of clay-limestone plateaus with starfish limestone, hillsides, and Fronsadais molasse.

Vinification and Aging
The harvest, carried out by hand to ensure precise berry selection, took place from September 5 to 23. The winemaking begins with long fermentations in concrete vats. Aging is divided between 30% new barrels, 30% wooden ovoid vats, and 40% one- or two-wine barrels, in order to preserve the brightness of the fruit and the minerality. Alcohol: 14% vol.

Grape Varieties
The blend consists of 70% Merlot, 20% Cabernet Franc, and 10% Cabernet Sauvignon.
