Wine Spectator

Intense aromas of honey, dried pineapple and botrytis spice. Full-bodied, very sweet and very powerful, with loads of dried fruit and sweetness on the finish. Lots of clove and orange peel. Same quality as the 2001. Best after 2013. 3,500 cases made.

Wine Enthusiast

85-87 Barrel sample. A powerfully dry wine, lacking charm but certainly compensating by a firm, hammer-like intensity. This could develop well, but it isn't very attractive at this stage.

Weinwisser

Fresh, lightly straw-yellow color. A layered, rich bouquet with delicately peppery botrytis, finely and evenly integrated throughout, mirabelle plum and acacia honey notes. The palate is rich, juicy and velvety, with a rolling extract; a concentrated finish of tremendous drive. Despite the richness, it has a fascinating freshness: a typical Barsac.

René Gabriel

Fresh, lightly straw-yellow color. A layered, rich bouquet with finely peppery botrytis, evenly integrated throughout, mirabelles and acacia honey. On the palate, rich, juicy and velvety, with a rolling extract and a focused, tremendously powerful finish. Despite its richness, its fascinating freshness makes it a true Barsac!

Fresh, dense, fruity bouquet with fine botrytis, apricot and grapefruit notes. Velvety, full, fruity and multi-layered palate with silky sweetness, great fruit, good acidity and superb aromatics. Very long, dense finish. 19/20 2015 - 2050

The Wine Independent

Lisa Perrotti-Brown

There is 5% Muscadelle in the 2005 Doisy Vedrines and it has 131 g/L of residual sugar. It has a medium straw-gold color and it is a little closed to start off, soon unfurling to give glimpses at honeycomb, baked pears, and pear tart, followed by suggestions of lemongrass, lime leaves, and crushed stones. The fruity, seductively sweet palate is lifted by a lively backbone, delivering bright, youthful citrus and stone fruit flavors on the long, wonderfully pure finish.

Bettane+Desseauve

Aromatically very diverse, built on a classic base of apricot and yellow fruits, with lovely acidity. The wine is long and fresh, very well made, and shows broader and more open than last year.

Le Figaro Vin

This 2005 has lovely density, but it is still holding back. The aromas are pure, the finish is long, and the overall balance is very good. Great potential.

Jean-Marc Quarin

Jean-Marc Quarin

Golden color. Moderately intense, fruity nose, with a hint of Scotch tape glue (AE). Slightly thick, fruity palate, lacking the ethereal magic of Botrytis.
