An elegant Grand Cru Classé from Saint-Émilion with a beautiful structure

The estate
The Château Villemaurine, located in Saint-Émilion on the right bank of Bordeaux, is a historic wine estate whose name dates back to the 7th century, linked to a Moorish camp. Today, under the direction of the Lefévère family, the estate covers 8 hectares of clay-limestone soils. The family has modernized the facilities, collaborating with renowned experts to refine winemaking techniques. Classified as a Grand Cru Classé de Saint-Émilion, the vineyard produces wines recognized for their elegance.

The vineyard
The vineyard of Château Villemaurine covers 8 hectares in the heart of Saint-Émilion. The vines, averaging 35 years old, are planted on heavy clay and clay-limestone soils, with a subsoil composed of a limestone plateau and oolites. .

The vintage
The spring of 2024 was marked by uncertain weather conditions. The summer proved hot, promoting polyphenol synthesis, while cool nights allowed optimal concentration of aromatic compounds. The harvest period experienced episodes of heavy rains, but the clay soils retained water to redistribute it gradually, ensuring ideal ripening of the grapes.

Vinification and aging
Sorting by density during the harvest. Maceration with pump-overs and punch-downs. Malolactic fermentation in barrels.Vinification in 68hl double-walled, temperature-controlled stainless steel tanks and 20hl and 40hl casks. The aging lasts 16 months, with 75 % in new French oak barrels and 25 % in large casks.

Blend
Merlot (83 %), Cabernet Franc (11 %) and Cabernet Sauvignon (6 %).
