Decanter

The profile leans toward a more high-toned expression, with bright acidity shaping the wine. There is a fresh, cool blue fruit character, accompanied by subtle hints of crushed mint. At this stage, the aromatics feel a touch reserved, but suggest further complexity to come with time in barrel (aging in 20% new oak).

Leve Jeff

Lush, soft, polished, plummy, ripe, and fruity, the wine focuses you on its refined, creamy character, leaving you with an elegant finish packed with licorice, black cherries, cocoa, and sweet, ripe, juicy plums. The wine blends 80% Merlot, with 20% Cabernet Franc. 13.5% ABV. Drink from 2028-2045. 92-94 Pts

Yves Beck

What lovely fruity intensity in this bouquet, with notes of red berries and licorice complemented by floral nuances. Velvety on the attack, the wine stands out for its breadth, power, and harmony. It has energy, character, and elegance, thanks to a structuring, driving acidity that nicely counters the bold ambition of the tannins. A savory, precise, and persistent wine.

Vinum

Spices, cinnamon and fennel seeds, subtle toasted notes, dark cherry fruit; silky on the attack, fresh, with crisp, delicate fruit; the tannins only show up right at the very end of the palate, very high quality, with plenty of pedigree and spiciness on the finish. A highly elegant Clos de L'Oratoire.

Description

A generous and harmonious Saint-Émilion Grand Cru

The estate

Clos de l'Oratoire, located in Saint-Émilion, is a wine estate founded in 1969 from the finest plots of Château Peyreau. Under the stewardship of Count Stéphan Von Neipperg since 1991, the estate has refined its viticultural practices while preserving the identity of its Grand Cru classified terroir. The vineyard, certified organic, extends over soils particularly well suited to the cultivation of Merlot and Cabernet Franc, giving rise to wines from the Right Bank of Bordeaux of remarkable quality.

The vineyard

The vineyard of Clos de l'Oratoire stretches over an exceptional terroir in Saint-Émilion, characterised by two complementary soil types: clay-limestone and Fronsac molasse at the top of the slope, and clay-sandy soils at the foot of the slope. This geological diversity gives rise to the complexity and aromatic richness of the wine. The vines, around 35 years old, are cultivated with the utmost respect for the environment.

Vinification and ageing

Vinification takes place in wooden and concrete vats, with gentle extraction through pneumatic pigeage. Maceration lasts 26 days. Ageing is carried out 75% in oak barrels (20% of which are new) on fine lees, and 25% in wooden and concrete vats.

Blend

This Clos de l'Oratoire 2025 is the result of a blend of 80% Merlot and 20% Cabernet Franc.
