Characteristics and tasting tips for the 2020 Beaune 1er Cru "Les Montrevenots" from Domaine A.F. Gros
Tasting
Color
The color presents an elegant golden hue with particularly luminous silvery highlights.
Nose
The nose reveals a beautiful aromatic complexity with notes of citrus and stone fruits, accompanied by floral nuances of acacia and lime blossom. Mineral touches of flint and subtle buttery notes complete this refined bouquet.
Palate
The attack is lively and fresh, unveiling an elegant structure and a rich body. The terroir's minerality brings vibrancy to the whole, while the silky and slightly creamy texture offers a beautiful balance. The finish, long and structured, stands out for its persistence and characteristic saline freshness.
Food and wine pairings
This white Beaune Premier Cru pairs perfectly with delicate fish prepared with butter and fresh herbs, shellfish such as scallops or crab, as well as poultry in creamy sauce. It also elegantly accompanies a creamy parmesan risotto or soft cheeses like a fresh goat cheese or a young Comté.
Service and storage
This 2020 Beaune 1er Cru "Les Montrevenots" can be appreciated now and will continue to evolve until around 2035.

The estate
Created in 1988, Domaine A.F. Gros was born from the union of Anne-Françoise Gros and François Parent, who combined their respective plots in Pommard. Since 2013, their children Caroline and Mathias Parent have managed the estate of over 10 hectares spread across the Côte de Nuits and the Côte de Beaune in Burgundy. Mathias, in charge of winemaking, introduced innovative techniques like whole-cluster fermentation and reduced use of new oak, favoring the expression of the terroirs. The estate was recognized as Winemakers of the Year by the Guide Hachette 2023 in Burgundy.
The vineyard
The "Les Montrevenots" climat is located at the top of the slope in Beaune, close to Pommard, on a limestone plateau reinforced with white marl. This elevated position and the soil composition confer the wine its distinctive minerality and structure. Les Montrevenots represents a relatively rare climat for the production of white wines in the Beaune appellation, traditionally dominated by reds. The limestone and marl terroir offers ideal conditions for the expression of Chardonnay.
The vintage
The 2020 vintage is characterized by exceptional grape maturity and excellent sanitary conditions at harvest. The hot and sunny summer favored a beautiful concentration of fruit. The vintage also presents high natural acidity, which will require a few years of storage to fully harmonize with the other components of this great Burgundy wine.
Winemaking and aging
The 2020 Beaune 1er Cru "Les Montrevenots" was vinified according to traditional Burgundian methods, with particular attention paid to preserving the terroir's mineral characteristics. Aging took place in oak barrels with moderate use of new oak, favoring the expression of fruit and minerality rather than woody notes.
