The estate

Acquired in 1905 by the Daumen family, Domaine de la Vieille Julienne has experienced an unprecedented growth since 1990, when Jean-Paul Daumen joined the family estate. This man, who is passionate about his terroir, developed an environmentally-friendly vineyard management by limiting the use of treatments and favouring biodynamic practices over chemical treatments. Expressed through the quality and aromatic range of the estate's wines, Domaine de la Vieille Julienne has become an essential reference among Rhône Valley wines over the years.

The wine

Les Trois Sources 2017 by Domaine de La Vieille Julienne is a Châteauneuf-du-Pape wine that stems from a 5.9-hectare vineyard, managed biodynamically and certified by Demeter. The vines are 75 years old on average and are planted on north-facing terraces with soil composed of Villafranchian pebbles and yellow molassic sands.

Vinification and ageing

The hand-picked grapes are sorted in the vineyard and a second sorting is carried out upon arrival at the estate. The vinification process is carried out exclusively with wild yeasts, without the use of sulphur. Vatting time is 20 days. The extraction is light in order to preserve the integrity of the grapes. The wine is aged for one year in oak barrels and 6 months in bottles.
