An exceptional Cornas from Domaine du Tunnel's century-old vines
The estate
Founded in 1994 by Stéphane Robert, Domaine du Tunnel has established itself today as a reference in the Northern Rhône. Located in the Rhône Valley, the estate spans 12 hectares between Saint-Péray, Cornas and Saint-Joseph. Stéphane Robert, trained by Bernard Gripa and Jean-Louis Grippat, manages this estate, whose name evokes an old railway tunnel from the early 20th century, converted in 2014 into an aging cellar with ideal conditions. The cuvées are distinguished by their remarkable concentration combined with silky finesse, the result of rigorous manual work and low-intervention winemaking.
The vineyard
Pur Noir 2023 stems from a strict selection of 1 to 2 barrels from plots in Cornas that are over 100 years old. These century-old vines lend the wine exceptional depth and concentration.
Winemaking and aging
The vinification of Pur Noir 2023 takes place for 3 weeks in stainless steel tanks. Aging then follows for 14 months in barrels, allowing the wine to develop its structure and complexity.
Grape variety
This Rhône Valley wine is a 100% Syrah.
