The authentic expression of a great Burgundy terroir by Domaine Hubert Lamy
The estate
While the family's winemaking history dates back to 1640 in Saint-Aubin, Domaine Hubert Lamy was officially founded in 1973 in Burgundy. Under Hubert's impetus, the estate was enriched with prestigious plots. Now led by his son, Olivier Lamy, the estate spans 18.5 hectares. Renowned for having elevated the Saint-Aubin appellation to the top, Olivier Lamy stands out for his innovative approach, notably his experiments with high-density plantings, while practising environmentally friendly viticulture.
The vineyard
Located on the southern edge of the Puligny-Montrachet appellation, just below the famous Bâtard-Montrachet grand cru, the Les Tremblots plot covers just 0.90 hectare. Reaching an altitude of 230 metres on a gentle slope, this terroir benefits from a soil composed of limestone marls and white pebbles, providing excellent drainage. The vines that make up this cuvée were planted in 1946 and 1970, bringing both the concentration of old vines and the vitality of younger stocks.
The vintage
The 2020 vintage was marked by warm, dry and sunny weather conditions. Despite a significant summer rainfall deficit, the water reserves accumulated in the soils during winter allowed the vines to flourish without excessive water stress. Spared by spring frosts, the growing cycle unfolded optimally through to the particularly early harvest, yielding berries of remarkable balance and great freshness.
Winemaking and ageing
After a gentle pneumatic pressing and an overnight settling, the fermentation of the Puligny-Montrachet Village "Les Tremblots Vieilles Vignes" 2020 begins naturally thanks to indigenous yeasts. Ageing then takes place over an average period of 24 months in 300- and 600-litre barrels, with no new oak used for this vintage, in order to preserve the purity of the fruit. The wine finally rests for a further six months in vat before being bottled with minimal filtration and fining.
Grape variety
100% Chardonnay.
