  • Parker : 90+
Jean-Luc is deeply attached to conviviality and generosity, as well as being a profound lover of Nature. His hospitality is legendary and he is always eager and ready to entertain and surprise his Provencal friends and overseas visitors with unforgettable meals. Fulfillment of a childhood dream came swiftly, with the purchase of their first vineyard, a small parcel of old-vines planted in a granite hillside overlooking the village of Cornas. The 1987 the release of Jean-Luc his first vintage of Cornas " Les Ruchets " was a " success fou ". It became the first in a long series of vintages of what is universally regarded as Colombo's icon wine. Early success fueled the swift acquisition of additional vineyards. Throughout the years following his meteoric rise, Jean-Luc remained true to his passion for winemaking and consistent to his guiding principles : respect for nature and the unique qualities of each terroir by a sensible alliance between traditional Viticultural practices and

Wine Advocate-Parker :
The 2013 Cornas les Ruchets comes all from the Chaillot lieu-dit (I believe Les Ruchets refers to a specific parcel within the vineyard), and was raised in a combination of new and older barrels. Giving up lots of mostly red fruits intermixed with complex notes of peppery herbs, potpourri and spring flowers, it's medium plus-bodied, nicely concentrated and structured on the palate with a tight, slightly backwards feel. It needs to be forgotten for 3-4 years, at which point it should drink nicely for a decade.
