The estate
Established in Tain-L'Hermitage in 1808, Maison M. Chapoutier today embodies the elite of the greatest names in Rhône Valley wines.
Winemaker and wine merchant, Michel Chapoutier has taken this family business to the top year after year. The wines of Maison Chapoutier are recognised for their refinement and high quality by the finest connoisseurs across the world. A man of many hats, Michel Chapoutier holds the world record for scores of 100/100 awarded by American wine critic Robert Parker. Mathilde, Michel Chapoutier's daughter, has taken up the torch of this iconic house, which looks after over 350 hectares of vineyards in the most prestigious appellations of the northern and southern Rhône Valley.
The vineyard
This Coteau de Chéry 2017 from M. Chapoutier is a Condrieu wine made from south-facing vineyards on soils composed of granite and micaschists. This terroir is certified organic and biodynamic.
Winemaking and ageing
Harvested by hand in crates, the grapes are pressed before being destemmed. Fermentation takes place in barrels at 17°C using indigenous yeasts. The wine is aged for 8 months in demi-muids, then in vats for 2 months.
