Nose
The bouquet reveals an exuberant finesse with notes of lavender, marshmallow and licorice. The malted barley is accompanied by floral meadow aromas, while stone fruits express themselves through pear, peach and apricot. Vanilla, coconut milk and lemon meringue pie complete this complex aromatic palette.

Palate
The attack is radiant and balanced with a herbal freshness evoking barley fields and fern. The mid-palate reveals a pronounced indulgence marked by brioche and sourdough baguette, while juicy white pear, peach and acacia honey bring a fruity and sweet dimension. The long, silky finish develops notes of fresh herbal tisane (sage, chamomile, verbena), soft salt grains on freshly cut grass, menthol and a slight cigar smoke. Fresh ginger spices and floral notes of pear blossom and lily of the valley persist, with fermentative aromas on the empty glass.

In 2024, Nikka celebrates its 90th anniversary. To prepare for this milestone, the brand launched the Discovery range in 2021, highlighting each year a key stage in the crafting of its Yoichi and Miyagikyo single malts. The 2022 edition spotlights yeasts, the third essential ingredient alongside malt and water, but rarely emphasized by distilleries. This limited version of Miyagikyo uses yeasts that develop aromas of peach and apricot, offering this exceptional Japanese whisky an immersive sensory experience.
