A characterful Calvados Pays d'Auge by Roger Groult

Maison Roger Groult, a family tradition since 1860

Founded in 1860 in France, Maison Roger Groult has upheld the art of Calvados for five generations at Clos de la Hurvanière, in the prestigious Pays d'Auge region of Normandy. Under the leadership of Estelle Groult, President and CEO since 2022, alongside Charlotte Groult as Deputy Managing Director, this family estate tends 27 hectares of cider apple trees. Its singularity lies in double distillation over a wood fire, carried out on three small stills, and patient aging in more than 350 tawny French oak casks, mostly old. This artisanal approach gives its Calvados remarkable finesse and a signature roundness.

The making of Roger Groult 8 Years Old Calvados

This Calvados 8 Years Old is made exclusively from cider apples from Pays d'Auge. It undergoes double distillation over a wood fire, a traditional method that gives the spirit its characteristic finesse. Aging takes place in old tawny French oak casks for at least eight years, allowing the Calvados to develop its roundness and elegance. Bottled at 41% ABV, this spirit—awarded a Gold Medal at the IWSC in 2014—bears witness to the Groult family’s ancestral know-how and their commitment to artisanal methods.
