A Calvados born of rare craftsmanship
Maison Roger Groult, a family tradition in the Pays d'Auge
Founded in 1860 in Normandy, Maison Roger Groult has upheld the art of Calvados Pays d'Auge for five generations. Established at Clos de la Hurvanière, the estate farms 27 hectares of apple trees and distills its eaux-de-vie on three wood-fired stills, following the traditional double-distillation method. Under the leadership of Estelle Groult, President and CEO since 2022, supported by her sister Charlotte Groult, Deputy Managing Director, the family house ages its calvados in more than 350 French oak barrels. Named “World’s Best Calvados” at the World Drinks Awards 2019, Roger Groult embodies the excellence of Normandy spirits crafted for connoisseurs.
Calvados Vénérable, the house’s signature cuvée
Calvados Vénérable is the signature cuvée of Maison Roger Groult. This perpetual blend brings together eaux-de-vie aged over 18 years, made exclusively from cider apples from the Pays d'Auge. Traditional wood-fired double distillation gives this spirit a unique personality, marked by distinctive smoky notes. Extended aging in old French red oak casks adds complexity and depth to this exceptional blend.
This cuvée was crowned “World’s Best Calvados” at the World Drinks Awards 2019 in London, an accolade that attests to the excellence of this frequently awarded spirit. Calvados Vénérable is available in several formats: a 70 cl bottle with case, 150 cl in a wooden box, and a 250 cl jug, allowing everyone to choose the size best suited to their needs.
