Description
A Vacqueyras from the Plateau de Sarrians crafted by Maison Tardieu-Laurent
The estate
Founded in 1996 in Lourmarin, in the heart of the Rhône Valley, Maison Tardieu-Laurent has established itself as a négociant-éleveur with no vineyards of its own, and is now run by Michel Tardieu and his son Bastien. Its expertise is built on an ageing philosophy inspired by Burgundian methods, applied to old-vine parcels selected from partner growers throughout the Rhône Valley. This approach gives the Tardieu-Laurent cuvées a distinctive identity, combining respect for the original terroir with technical rigour in the ageing process.
The vineyard
The Vacqueyras "Vieilles Vignes" 2025 comes from parcels located on the Plateau de Sarrians and in the La Ponche area, two characteristic terroirs of the Vacqueyras appellation. The Grenache vines that make up this cuvée are over 60 years old, while the Syrah vines are around 40 years old, an age that favours concentration and complexity of fruit.
Vinification and ageing
The vinification of the Vacqueyras "Vieilles Vignes" 2025 uses a partially whole-bunch harvest, with around half of the grapes kept with their stems. Ageing takes place in two stages: ten months in oak barrels that have previously held one or two wines, followed by ten months in a Stockinger foudre, for a total of around twenty months. The wine will be bottled without fining or filtration, in keeping with the House's philosophy of preserving the fruit and the texture.
Grape varieties
This Vacqueyras "Vieilles Vignes" 2025 from Tardieu-Laurent is a blend of Grenache and Syrah.
