Tasting notes and characteristics of Château Figeac 2025
Tasting
Nose
The nose unfolds with delicacy and complexity, blending hints of peony and white pepper with generous notes of red fruits, all carried by a fine mineral touch with graphite accents.
Palate
On the palate, the attack is wonderfully smooth, supported by powdery tannins of remarkable finesse. The mid-palate unfolds with breadth and roundness, allowing a beautiful bouquet of vibrant fresh fruits to express itself. The delicately saline finish elegantly prolongs this sense of harmony, marking a subtle and accomplished balance between liveliness and the profound expression of the terroir.
A Premier Grand Cru Classé "A" from Saint-Émilion combining liveliness and depth
The estate
The Château Figeac, an iconic figure of the Bordeaux vineyards, traces its roots back to Gallo-Roman antiquity, as attested by numerous archaeological remains. Since 2022, its elevation to the rank of Premier Grand Cru Classé "A" has crowned a long-standing excellence. For over a century, the Manoncourt family, led by Thierry Manoncourt, has shaped the identity of this estate on the right bank of Bordeaux, through demanding and meticulous viticulture.
The vineyard
A true benchmark of the Saint-Émilion terroir, Figeac stands out for its singular geographical location, nestled at the western tip of the appellation, on the doorstep of Pomerol. Its vineyard extends over three superb gravelly mounds, the source of a remarkable geological richness. The care taken to preserve natural balances illustrates the estate's deep commitment to cultivating its lands in harmony with the environment.
The vintage
A rainy spring followed by a scorching summer (up to 44°C) resulted in small, highly concentrated berries, fostering remarkable aromatic richness and tannins of great finesse. The harvest, early and conducted with precision from 1 to 19 September, gave rise to harmonious, fresh and balanced wines, thanks in particular to a long cold maceration and slow, carefully controlled fermentations. Château Figeac 2025 stands out as a vintage of great elegance, revealing the excellence of its terroir and the expertise of its teams.
