The estate

Today, Château Léoville Las Cases stands as one of the most emblematic estates of the prestigious Saint-Julien appellation on the Left Bank of the Bordeaux region. Recognized as one of the oldest estates in the Médoc, the house’s heritage is rooted in a long winemaking tradition. Awarded the title of Second Grand Cru Classé in the 1855 Official Classification, Léoville Las Cases’ outstanding quality earned it the distinction of “First of the Second Growths.” Acquired by the Delon family at the end of the 19th century and led to this day by Jean-Hubert Delon, Château Léoville Las Cases has established itself as a benchmark among the great wines of Saint-Julien, demonstrating exceptional consistency in quality since the 1970s.

The vineyard

The 55 hectares of Château Léoville Las Cases are planted within the famed Clos de Léoville, a complex mosaic of terroirs. Located near the Gironde, the vineyard benefits from a thermal regulator effect thanks to the river, ensuring mild temperatures and providing a natural barrier against frost. Combined with Günzian gravel soils resting on gravelly-sandy subsoils with clay of varying depth, the terroir of Château Léoville Las Cases gives rise to exceptional wines. The richness of the geology, balanced by the oceanic climate, offers ideal conditions for the development of Cabernet Sauvignon, the flagship grape of the Left Bank. Merlot and Cabernet Franc also achieve the quintessence of their character on this great Saint-Julien terroir.

The wine

Echoing the two seemingly twin mirrors that have adorned Château Léoville Las Cases since the 18th century, the MIROIR collection is a highly limited edition of two cases that mirror and complement each other. The first is named “Secret Vintages” while the second is titled “Historic Vintages.” Between great and lesser-known years, these exceptional cases reveal the refinement and aromatic expression of these great Saint-Julien wines.
