Vinum

Astonishingly dark color; smoky, cool, dark-fruited on the nose; on the palate, generous fruit, silky tannins, lively acidity, not particularly long, yet with good harmony of all elements. Well done.

Decanter

Lovely expressive aromatics. Juicy and focused, this is sleek and carefully presented. Direct and focused in a single line with super-fine tannins that delicately support the fruit. Cool and calm, this feels well made, and although it’s not full of super-ripe fruit, what it does have is finessed and refined with such easy drinkability on offer. I like this. Ends fresh, clean and grippy. A real success. Julien Viaud consultant.

Blackcurrants, flowers, cherries, espresso, and cigar box aromatics are already expressive. The wine is soft, seductive, and forward, with a core of plummy fruits with touches of spice, and mint in the mid-palate, and in the finish. The wine blends 60% Cabernet Sauvignon, 38% Merlot, and 2% Petit Verdot. Drink from 2028-2045. 91-93 Pts

Le Figaro Vin

Slightly monolithic on the nose, reserved, with some floral and peppery notes. The palate’s acidity rests on sour cherry, redcurrant, and wild blackberry, with a meaty, peppery touch, making for a concentrated, virile wine.

The property

Founded in 1762 by François de Péghuilhan, the Château Marquis de Terme is a historic estate on the left bank of Bordeaux. Owned by the Sénéclauze family since 1935 and under the direction of Paloma Sénéclauze, representing the fourth generation, the vineyard, conducted in sustainable agriculture certified HVE 4, Terra Vitis and Bee Friendly, gives birth to wines acclaimed for their freshness and their fine tannins.

The vineyard

The 45 hectares of Château Marquis de Terme flourish on the central plateau of Margaux, benefiting from the beneficial influence of the Gironde and the ocean. This exceptional terroir is characterized by deep gravel soils resting on clay subsoils (luvisols and peyrosols), perfect for the expression of Bordeaux grape varieties. Biodiversity is favored by the planting of hedges, contributing to the ecological balance of the Margaux vineyard.

The vintage

The 2024 vintage began with a winter with favorable conditions allowing a homogeneous bud burst. Fresh and humid, the spring slowed down vegetative development, while the calm summer favored a progressive and optimal maturation of the grapes. These conditions allowed to obtain berries rich in polyphenols, preserving a beautiful freshness and developing complex aromas.

Vinification and aging

Parcel and intra-parcel harvests carried out with precision, favoring gentle extractions to preserve the freshness and subtlety of the fruit. Aging is carried out in French oak barrels (40% new wood), with a duration adapted to each batch. .

Blend

Cabernet sauvignon (60%), complemented by merlot (38%) and a touch of petit verdot (2%), a typical alliance of great Margaux wines offering both structure, roundness and aromatic complexity.
