Jeb Dunnuck

Birte Jantzen

At first a bit shy, the 2024 Collioure L’Argile Blanc is delicately fragrant, with notes of brioche, yellow and white peach, very light oaky notes, sweet spices, a hint of matcha, verbena, herbal tea, and roasted pear. A 90/10 blend of Grenache Gris and Grenache Blanc that’s still young, it will continue to evolve gracefully over the next 5 to 7 years, but today the wine shows a crisp, structured, phenolic personality, with a peppery and fairly long finish. Drink 2025-2033.

A textural, succulent and citrusy white with aromas of fresh lemons, yellow plums, flowers and some blanched almonds. Medium-bodied with fresh acidity. Zesty and precise, with a tactile, persistent finish. Drink or hold.

Description

Characteristics and tasting notes for the "L'Argile" 2024 Domaine de la Rectorie

Tasting

Colour
White in colour, the wine reveals a pale, luminous golden hue, of striking clarity with subtle ochre glints.

Nose
The nose reveals a lovely aromatic complexity dominated by white fruits such as peach and apricot, along with citrus notes. On aeration, mineral, iodine, aniseed, herbal and gentle spice notes unfold.

Palate
The attack is round and supple, offering an unctuous texture. The mid-palate shows excellent tension thanks to a refreshing acidity that balances the whole. The finish is persistent, marked by a remarkable salinity.

Food and wine pairing

This wine pairs ideally with delicate fish, seafood or white meats such as poultry. It also goes wonderfully well with hard cow's or ewe's milk cheeses, as well as Mediterranean dishes flavoured with herbs and olive oil.

Service and storage

The "L'Argile" 2024 cuvée can be cellared and enjoyed until around 2033.

Other characteristics

This wine has an alcohol content of 14%.

The authentic expression of a white Collioure wine

The estate

Founded in 1984 by brothers Marc and Thierry Parcé, Domaine de la Rectorie is a key figure in the Roussillon region of France. Located in Banyuls-sur-Mer, the estate spans a fragmented vineyard of 34 to 35 hectares. Today, Jean-Emmanuel Parcé runs the estate with a vision that combines respect for tradition with adaptation to climatic challenges, notably through a gradual transition to organic farming. The estate stands out for its mastery of the local terroirs and its ability to produce highly precise single-plot cuvées.

The vineyard

Produced under the Collioure appellation, this wine comes from a specific plot located near the hamlet of Cosprons. The vines, averaging 80 years old, are planted on steep terraces overlooking the Mediterranean Sea. The terroir consists mainly of Cambrian schist covered with a thin layer of clay and sand, lending a distinctive minerality. The estate practises artisanal viticulture with deliberately limited yields and entirely hand-harvested grapes.

Winemaking and ageing

For the "L'Argile" 2024 cuvée, the grapes are harvested at early maturity to preserve their freshness. After whole-bunch direct pressing, fermentation takes place in oak barrels. The wine then undergoes ageing on the lees for eight months, with regular stirring—initially daily, then weekly—before bottling in spring.
