Description
Characteristics and tasting notes of the Finca Cortezada 2025
Tasting
Colour
The colour reveals a brilliant straw yellow. Clear and intense, it displays a beautiful visual density that reflects its concentration.
Nose
Particularly expressive and complex, the aromatic bouquet opens with notes of stone fruit such as apricot, mingled with hints of tropical fruit reminiscent of passion fruit and touches of citrus. Subtle aniseed nuances complete this profile, while waxy aromas may develop over time.
Palate
The attack is marked by great freshness and pronounced acidity, which gradually evolve into a rounder, softer texture in the mid-palate. The whole is underlined by a distinctive saline minerality and light touches of white pepper. The finish stands out for its length and lovely liveliness.
Food and wine pairing
This white wine pairs wonderfully with seafood, particularly raw oysters, as well as with grilled, poached or butter-sauced white fish. It is also a perfect match for regional dishes such as Galician-style paprika octopus, or Asian and Latin American cuisines with citrus and mild spice notes. Well-aged hard cheeses also make an excellent choice.
Service and storage
The Finca Cortezada 2025 has excellent aging potential, allowing it to develop even greater aromatic complexity over the years in bottle.
Other characteristics
This wine has an alcohol content of 14%.
The mineral, authentic expression of a great white wine from Ribeira Sacra by F. Algueira
The estate
Officially founded in 2005 by Fernando González, who remains its current owner alongside an emerging second generation, F. Algueira is an iconic family-run estate located in Galicia. Established in the Ribeira Sacra region, this estate has established itself as a true benchmark thanks to its commitment to heroic viticulture on dramatically steep slopes. The founder began his work restoring the ancient terraces as early as 1979, shaping the estate's identity around the preservation of historical heritage, native grape varieties and absolute respect for the terroir.
The vineyard
The plot from which this wine originates is located in Ribeira Sacra, on a southwest-facing slope that benefits from intense afternoon sunlight. This spectacular terroir is characterized by extremely steep slopes arranged in dramatic terraces. The vines thrive under a Mediterranean microclimate with Atlantic influences, sinking their roots into soils composed of gneiss, quartz and slate. Cultivation is carried out entirely by hand, respecting the principles of heroic, organic and sustainable viticulture, with no mechanization whatsoever.
Winemaking and aging
The making of the Finca Cortezada 2025 favors minimal intervention to fully express the terroir. After static settling, alcoholic fermentation begins spontaneously through indigenous yeasts, in stainless steel tanks at a strictly controlled temperature of 13°C. The wine is then aged for six months in stainless steel tanks, with no contact with the lees, in order to preserve its purity and mineral freshness. It is finally stabilized and bottled to continue its maturation.
Grape varieties
This wine is a blend of Godello, Albariño and Treixadura.
