Robert Parker

Monica Larner

This wine sources its fruit exclusively from a five-hectare site with local Tortoniano soils that are rich in magnesium and manganese with a bluish hue. The Prunotto 2021 Barbaresco Bric Turot (with 26,000 bottles made) shows an expressive savory side that to my tastes translates as more roots than flowers. Dark fruit is followed by tilled earth, petrichor and toasted almond husk. This is a keeper, but for near and medium-term drinking, I would go with the village Barbaresco.

James Suckling

Walnuts, cherry stones, strawberries and tobacco on the nose. It’s full-bodied and well framed, with fine, lightly chalky tannins. Lots of finesse and length. Drink after 2025.

Vinous

Antonio Galloni

The 2021 Barbaresco Bric Turot offers all the classicism of Treiso in its deeply pitched, spiced personality and structural feel. Dark red-toned fruit, cloves, leather, orange peel and saddle leather give the 2021 lovely exotic elements that add to its beguiling personality. Clean mineral notes extend the finish.

Wine Enthusiast

Jeff Porter

Warm red berries and wild herbs define the aromatics, with subtle notes of crushed spices adding detail. The palate shows moderate depth with soft red fruits. A straightforward style that carries its fruit through to a medium finish.

The elegance and structure of a Barbaresco wine

The property

Prunotto is located on an estate that carries a tradition of viticulture, culture, history and tradition. The wines vinified by this Italian estate possess the typical aromas of the grapes grown in these hills. The various vineyards of the Antinori - Prunotto Estate extend into the best agricultural areas of Piedmont. The property uses all the necessary modern technology to produce high-quality Piedmont wines.

The vineyard

The 50 hectares of the property are located in Alba, equidistant from Barbaresco and Barolo. This must-see reference among the wines of Piedmont is established on a magnificent smooth and colorful plain in the Langhe and Roero region.

The vintage

The 2021 vintage was marked by a mild winter but rich in precipitation, ensuring an excellent water reserve. The few spring frosts reduce yields without impacting the final quality of the grapes. A sunny summer, without excessive heat, and ideal thermal amplitudes during the harvest allowed for grapes of optimal maturity and a remarkable balance between sugar, freshness and polyphenols. The harvest took place from September 25 to October 11.

Vinification and aging

Destemming and crushing before a maceration of about 10 days. Alcoholic and malolactic fermentation. Aging for 12 months in oak barrels followed by additional aging in bottles for one year before marketing.

Blend

Nebbiolo (100%).
