Description
Tasting notes and recommendations for BOND’s St. Eden 2014
Tasting
Color
The color reveals a deep garnet-purple hue.
Nose
The nose expresses blackcurrant crème and signature dark fruits, with a light touch of sage. Notes of stewed black cherries, blueberry pie, cedar chest, baking spices, menthol, and pencil lead also emerge.
Palate
Full-bodied, tight, and muscular, this wine offers a solid tannic structure with firm, grainy, yet extremely fine tannins that linger through the finish. Its signature duality between hedonistic richness and fresh minerality is in full expression.
Food and wine pairings
This St. Eden 2014 pairs perfectly with beef and venison. It also goes very well with charcuterie and cheeses.
Serving and cellaring
St. Eden 2014 has cellaring potential through 2044 and beyond.
A full-bodied, elegant Napa Valley cabernet sauvignon by BOND
The estate
Founded in 1996 by Bill Harlan, BOND embodies a Burgundian vision applied to California cabernet sauvignon, identifying five exceptional vineyards from more than eighty candidates assessed across the Napa Valley. Since 2020, Will Harlan, the founder’s son, has led the estate alongside winemaker Cory Empting, carrying forward the “200-year plan” designed to ensure excellence over multiple generations. The wines have earned numerous scores and rank among the most sought-after California cabernets.
The vineyard
The St. Eden vineyard spans 11 acres located just north of Oakville Crossroad in Napa Valley. It is planted on iron-rich rocky soil composed of fractured volcanic rock from a landslide, with a north-facing exposure.
Grape variety
St. Eden 2014 is a California wine made exclusively from cabernet sauvignon.
