Wine Spectator

Bruce Sanderson

Dry, with flavors of dried flowers and bread dough. Bracing in structure and chalky in texture. Needs food; light seafood salads, even Niçoise, might work. Drink now. 5,835 cases made, 210 cases imported.

Vinous

Josh Raynolds

(50% Pinot Noir, 30% Pinot Meunier and 20% Chardonnay; 8 g/l dosage; L41A24069BT): Light orange-pink. High-pitched, mineral-laced red berry and orange zest aromas are complicated by notes of cinnamon and allspice. Dry and exotically flavored, offering blood orange and gingerbread flavors and a suggestion of candied rose. Tight, focused and very spicy on the penetrating finish, which clings with strong mineral-driven tenacity. Eight percent of the Pinot Noir here was vinified as still red wine.

The NV Champagne Brut Rosé pours a deep pink/salmon color and offers attractive aromas of crushed strawberries, ripe peaches, brioche, and fresh flowers. This medium to full-bodied offering is straightforward on the palate, with a clean citrus finish and a fine mousse. It is a charming Rosé to enjoy over the near term. Disgorged in September 2021, this release is a blend of 50% Pinot Noir, 20% Chardonnay, and the rest Meunier.

Colorful, fruity, with a lovely tonic dimension, it has gained in precision.

The ripe tannins of Pinot Noir come through strongly in this softly textured wine. With raspberry flavors that are balanced by generous acidity, this is a rosé Champagne that is easy to drink now.

Description

An elegant and delicate Brut Rosé champagne

The producer

Since its creation in 1834, the Boizel Champagne House has been renowned for its refined champagnes, stemming from the finest Champagne vineyards. Although the house reigns over its own vineyard of around 7 hectares, it also sources its grapes from partner winegrowers.

Florent and Lionel Roques-Boizel represent the sixth generation at the head of the family business.

The wine

Made from illustrious red wine terroirs in Champagne (Cumières and Les Riceys), Brut Rosé by Boizel benefits from three years of ageing on lees. Its dosage is 8 g/litre.

Vinification and ageing

During the production of this champagne, 8% of the juice is vinified as red wine. This champagne contains 20% reserve wines.

The blend

Pinot Noir (50%)

Pinot Meunier (30%)

Chardonnay (20%).
