Vinous

Antonio Galloni

The NV Brut Blanc de Blancs Unisson Grand Cru is a pure Chardonnay from Avize, blended from the 2016 and 2017 vintages. A most subtle nose allows glimpses of dried corn husk but stays subdued, because it all happens on the beautifully chalky palate. Depth becomes apparent with the first sip of this slender, taut, bright and lithe Champagne that delves and drives deep into chalk, adding slight yeasty autolysis and really fine mousse. Everything about this forsakes overtness in favor of depth, beautifully elegant with alluring, salty, chalky depth. Lovely. Dosage is 6.7 g/L. Disgorged: March 2023. - Anne Krebiehl MW

Description

A fresh and balanced Blanc de Blancs Champagne

The estate

Family-owned, the Champagne House Franck Bonville traces its origins back to 1900 with Alfred Bonville who, as a visionary, acquired parcels only a few years after phylloxera had ravaged the Champagne vineyards.

The House experienced significant growth after 1945 thanks to Franck Bonville, who expanded the size of the vineyard and began marketing the first cuvées under his own name. Representing the third generation, Gilles Bonville and his wife gradually modernized the winemaking facilities starting in 1970. After joining his parents in 1996, Olivier Bonville has paid particular attention to managing the vineyard with respect for the environment.

The vineyard

The Unisson Blanc de Blancs Grand Cru cuvée from Franck Bonville is produced from grapes grown in the vineyards of Avize, an iconic terroir of Champagne. The name of this cuvée refers to its blend of two harvest years (2016 and 2017). The dosage of this Brut Champagne is 6.7 g/L.

Vinification and aging

This Blanc de Blancs Champagne undergoes alcoholic and malolactic fermentation in temperature-controlled stainless steel vats.

Grape variety

Chardonnay (100%).
