A particularly good value.

A memorable, full-bodied brut with assertive, complex flavors and a lingering finish. Aromas of fresh bread and toasted walnut are backed up by crisp, full-bore fruit flavors. Drink now. 26,500 cases imported.

Decanter

Salty butter on the nose, just melting; seductive. Gentle mousse with youthful apples, bright lemon zest and a creamy balance on the palate, lively and easy to drink.

A very composed and convincing Brut Premier based on the 2016 harvest. The aromas run from lemon and peach to fresh hazelnut, brioche and gently flinty notes. The palate has piercing flavors of grapefruit, lemon, peach and pink berries. Seamless, layered textural build. Fresh finish. Impressive. Drink or hold.

Golden colour with a fine mousse, the nose is fresh yet shows some maturity, with hints of ripe citrus, butterscotch, vanilla and stone fruits. Well-balanced palate with a certain maturity, well-integrated mousse and bright freshness, balanced, elegant classic style, long finish.

Coming mostly from estate fruit, the NV Champagne Premier Brut is a terrific value offering lots of golden apple and white flower notes, medium-bodied richness, and a textured, balanced, layered mouthfeel. It’s beautifully done and one classy Champagne to enjoy over the coming 7-8 years.

La RVF

A beautiful, sincere palette of aromas. A hint of toast emerges. A metallic, ferrous note appears. The palate shows a certain power. This is a wine that asserts real vinosity. The dosage, although lower in recent years, stands out on the mid-palate.

Description

An elegant, vibrant and generous champagne by Louis Roederer

The producer

Founded in 1776 in Reims, the Louis Roederer Champagne House has remained family-owned and independent. After over 200 years of existence, the Louis Roederer House is still owned by the same family. Today, headed by Frédéric Rouzaud, who represents the family’s seventh generation, Louis Roederer embodies the excellence of Champagne wines throughout the world, due to its vintages that are crafted like true works of art.

The vineyard

Comprising nearly 241 hectares of vines, the Louis Roederer House’s strength comes from its extraordinary vineyard, made up entirely of Grands and Premiers Crus in the Marne Valley, the Montagne de Reims and the Côte des Blancs. An impressive patchwork of terroirs, the Louis Roederer vineyard is divided into 410 plots that reflect the diversity of the Champagne region’s soils.

The wine

Following the end of the First World War, Léon Olry had to replant part of his vineyard. In order to ensure the continuity of the house's production, he acquired grapes and made a non-vintage champagne that perfectly expresses the house’s style, whatever the year of harvest. Thus giving rise to Louis Roederer's Brut Premier champagne.

Vinification and ageing

The grapes stem from a selection of several crus and are vinified in oak barrels. This champagne benefits from a 3-year ageing period in cellars and resting for a minimum of 6 months after disgorgement.

The blend

Louis Roederer’s Brut Premier comprises a blend of Chardonnay (40%), Pinot Noir (40%) and Pinot Meunier (20%), 5% of wines vinified in oak tuns with weekly stirring and 10% of reserve wines aged in wood are added to the blend.
