Description
Tasting Notes and Characteristics of the Louis Roederer Collection 246 Gift Box with 2 Flutes
Tasting
Appearance
The robe is brilliant and crystalline, enhanced by a delicate and sustained effervescence.
Nose
The bouquet unfolds on aromas of yellow fruits such as mirabelle plum and nectarine, supported by candied citrus with lemony accents. Toasted and vanilla-tinged woody nuances blend with subtle hints of reduction evoking shellfish, grilled and iodine notes.
Palate
The attack is fruity, carried by aromas of peach and floral nuances of pollen. The airy and delicate texture allows round, velvety bubbles to express themselves. The mid-palate reveals saline and chalky sensations, with a smooth and powdery texture. The long and graceful finish releases smoky and grilled notes brought by the perpetual reserve, leaving an impression of freshness, dynamism and vibrancy.
Food and wine pairings
This champagne pairs beautifully with a refined aperitif, fine charcuterie boards or grilled fish.
Serving and cellaring
The Collection 246 is best enjoyed at a temperature between 8 and 10°C.
A finely crafted champagne by Louis Roederer in a refined gift box
The estate
Established in 1776 in Reims, the Champagne Louis Roederer House has succeeded in remaining a family-owned and independent business. After more than two centuries of history, it still belongs to one and the same family. Today led by Frédéric Rouzaud, representing the seventh generation, the Louis Roederer House shines throughout the world as a symbol of Champagne excellence, thanks to cuvées crafted with the care and precision of an artist.
The vineyard
With some 241 hectares of vines, the Louis Roederer estate draws its singularity from a remarkable vineyard, composed exclusively of Grands and Premiers Crus spread across the Vallée de la Marne, the Montagne de Reims and the Côte des Blancs. A true kaleidoscope of terroirs, this vineyard unfolds across 410 plots that reflect all the variety and richness of Champagne soils.
The cuvée
This champagne comes from the three emblematic terroirs of the House: one third from the "La Rivière" vineyard in the Vallée de la Marne, one third from the "La Montagne" vineyard on the Montagne de Reims, and one third from the "La Côte" vineyard on the Côte des Blancs. The grapes come from the estate's own vines, complemented by carefully selected "Cœur de Terroir" plots sourced from partner winegrowers. Viticulture there favours respectful and sustainable practices.
The Collection 246 represents the 246th blend produced by the Louis Roederer House. This multi-vintage cuvée is built on 55% of wines from the 2021 harvest, enriched with 35% of perpetual reserve bringing together the 2012 to 2020 vintages, and 10% of reserve wines aged in wood between 2012 and 2017.
Enhancing the tasting experience, this gift box includes 1 bottle of the Collection 246 along with two elegant flutes.
Winemaking and aging
The vinification of the Collection 246 incorporates 24% of wines aged in oak barrels. A partial malolactic fermentation, at 30%, brings roundness and complexity to the blend. The final dosage of 7 g/L gives this champagne a subtle balance between vivacity and indulgence.
Grape varieties
The blend consists of 54% Chardonnay, ensuring finesse and elegance, 35% Pinot Noir for structure and depth, and 11% Meunier for roundness and suppleness.
