The estate

The Champagne Moët & Chandon House was founded in 1743 by Claude Moët, a visionary wine merchant, who quickly established it as a benchmark among European courts. A few years later, his grandson, Jean-Rémy Moët, expanded the house's reputation internationally.

Jean-Rémy Moët notably created the House's emblematic cuvée, the Moët Imperial, in honour of Emperor Napoleon Bonaparte, who visited the estate on several occasions and is said to have invented, along with his troops, the gesture of sabring bottles of Moët & Chandon champagne to celebrate a victory.

Owned by the LVMH group since 1987, the House crafts, from a rigorous selection of its Champagne terroirs, singular cuvées recognised beyond borders for their quality and seductive personality.

The vintage

Hailed as the "Champagne miracle", the 2012 vintage left a lasting impression in Champagne. After various climatic setbacks that put the vineyard to a severe test, the magnificent month of August heralded a harvest beyond all expectations, with sweet grapes, beautiful acidity and excellent phenolic potential. These indicators left no doubt as to the promise of a truly great year, on a par with the 1966, 1989 and 2002 vintages.

Vinification and ageing

This cuvée was aged for a minimum of 5 years in the cellars of the House of Moët & Chandon. The ageing time after disgorgement for this 2012 vintage champagne is 6 months, with a dosage of 5 g/litre.

Blend

Pinot Noir (42%, including 13% red wine), Chardonnay (35%) and Pinot Meunier (23%).

Appearance
The robe displays a beautiful coral pink hue, shimmering with orange reflections that highlight the finesse and persistence of the bead of bubbles.

Nose
Sparkling with freshness, the nose opens with tangy notes of grapefruit and blood orange. Notes of small red fruits then punctuate the bouquet, revealing aromas of wild strawberry and rhubarb.

Palate
