Description
Pol Roger unveils an elegant and aromatic champagne
The producer
Founded in 1849, the Pol Roger Champagne House has been perpetuating the excellence of its know-how and its perpetual quest for perfection for five generations. An unrivalled reference that beams beyond French borders, the Pol Roger Champagne House is the official supplier to the British Crown as well as to the finest Michelin-starred restaurants.
As one of the last houses to still hand stir its entire production of champagne bottles, Pol Roger's uniqueness lies in its style, which authentically expresses the full potential of the exceptional terroirs of the Champagne region.
The vineyard
The Pol Roger Champagne House watches over an exceptional 92-hectare vineyard, which includes the most beautiful parcels of the Montagne de Reims and the Côte des Blancs.
Vinification and ageing
A delicate pressing is carried out after the harvest. A first settling is carried out at the pressing centre before a second settling in the house’s vat room, at a cold temperature (6°C) for 24 hours. Alcoholic fermentation at low temperature (18°C) in thermo-regulated stainless steel vats. Separate vinification by grape variety and vintage before final blending. Malolactic fermentation. After blending and bottling, the wine is aged in the estate’s historic cellars.
Produced in limited quantities, Pol Roger's Brut Vintage 2009 is aged for 9 years. Following disgorgement, additional ageing for at least 3 months is carried out before being put on the market.
The blend
Pol Roger's Brut Vintage 2009 comprises a blend of Pinot Noir (60%) and Chardonnay (40%) from 20 Grands Crus and Premiers Crus of the Montagne de Reims and the Côte des Blancs.
