Characteristics and Tasting Notes of Rare Millésime 2012 by Rare Champagne
Tasting
Appearance
The pale gold hue reveals a fine and elegant effervescence.
Nose
The first nose is rich and indulgent, revealing aromas of brioche, almond, mango, guava, and bergamot. Hints of lilac precede spicy notes of honey, black tea, vanilla, white pepper, incense, and smokiness.
Palate
On the palate, the indulgence becomes juicier and tangier, with citrus fruits blossoming within a silky texture. The finish is saline and mineral, offering remarkable, almost endless length.
Cellaring Potential
This vintage can be cellared well beyond 2044, gradually revealing its full complexity over time.
A radiant and mineral vintage champagne
The estate
Rare Champagne is a bold house, producing champagnes in limited quantities only in years marked by extraordinary weather conditions. For over 40 years, it has declared just 14 vintages, each one a unique expression of nature and the Cellar Master's expertise. The latter selects terroirs for their expressiveness, breaking conventions with chardonnays from the Montagne de Reims and pinot noirs of unrivaled silkiness.
The vintage
The year 2012 in Champagne began with contrasting weather, marked by winter frosts, spring rains, and even hailstorms. However, from mid-July onwards, the weather turned milder, giving way to a hot and dry period ideal for ripening the grapes. As a result, the harvest was characterized by low yields but exceptional quality.
Blend
This 2012 vintage champagne is composed of chardonnay and pinot noir, in expertly balanced proportions to offer freshness, intensity, and elegance.
