Description
A dense and elegant Saint-Émilion Grand Cru Classé
The estate
Located on the boundary of Pomerol in the Saint-Émilion Grand Cru Classé appellation on Bordeaux’s Right Bank, the Château La Tour Figeac was originally part of the famous Château Figeac, Premier Grand Cru Classé. The separation took place in 1879, and today Château La Tour Figeac produces its wines on nearly 15 hectares of gravelly sandy soils over deep clay.
The vineyard
Château La Tour Figeac has a keen awareness of the importance of respecting its environment and biodiversity. Thus, this vineyard in Saint-Émilion has been managed for almost 20 years using organic and biodynamic techniques.
Winemaking and aging
The very ripe berries are vinified in small batches after destemming, and gentle extractions are carried out by punch-down in all the vats. This technique avoids excessive extraction and thus preserves very elegant tannins. The wines then spend approximately 15 months in foudres and wooden vats.
Blend
70% Merlot and 30% Cabernet Franc.
