Characteristics and tasting notes of Barbera d'Asti "Le Radici" 2024 Mauro Molino

Tasting

Colour
With a deep ruby red colour, this wine visually expresses beautiful maturity and promises subtle garnet nuances over the years.

Nose
The aromatic bouquet stands out for its elegance, offering intense scents of cherry and red fruits such as strawberry, raspberry and blackberry. This fruity ensemble is subtly enhanced by spicy notes and delicate floral touches.

Palate
Endowed with excellent structure and beautiful complexity, this Italian red wine envelops the palate with a full-bodied texture. The tannins prove particularly soft and velvety, offering a silky sensation that lingers on a persistent finish.

Food and wine pairing

This wine pairs perfectly with traditional Italian cuisine, enhancing fresh egg pasta topped with a rich ragù or braised beef dishes. It also pairs brilliantly with game meats such as wild boar or venison, sautéed wild mushrooms, as well as generous platters of charcuterie and cheese.

Service and storage

Barbera d'Asti "Le Radici" 2024 is a wine that is very approachable and appealing in its youth. Thanks to its solid structure, it also has the potential needed to evolve and gain complexity in the cellar over several years.

Other characteristics

This wine is vinified in a dry style and has an alcohol content between 14 and 16%. In order to preserve the purity of its fruity aromas, it undergoes no aging in oak barrels.

The authentic, family-driven expression of a great Piedmont terroir

The estate

Founded in 1953 by Giuseppe Molino, the estate underwent a true qualitative turning point when his son, Mauro Molino, took the reins in the late 1970s. Located in La Morra, in the heart of Piedmont in Italy, the estate today spans a vineyard of 18 to 20 hectares. It is now Mauro's children, Matteo overseeing technical direction and Martina managing commercial operations, who run the family business. They passionately carry on a philosophy centered on environmental respect, aromatic precision and fidelity to the terroir.

The vineyard

The grapes destined for the Barbera d'Asti cuvée come from the hamlet of Burio, located in the commune of Costigliole d'Asti in the historic Monferrato region. This exceptional terroir benefits from a privileged sun exposure and rests on clay-limestone soils perfectly suited to vine cultivation. The estate practices sustainable viticulture there, encouraging natural grass cover between the rows, mechanical soil work and the exclusive use of organic fertilizers to preserve biodiversity.

The vintage

This year, the harvest took place between late September and early October. This harvest window was carefully chosen to allow the berries to reach optimal phenolic ripeness while preserving the beautiful natural acidity essential to the wine's balance.

Winemaking and aging

The production of Barbera d'Asti "Le Radici" 2024 begins with skin maceration lasting ten to fourteen days, allowing for gentle extraction of colours and aromas. Alcoholic and malolactic fermentations are then carried out in stainless steel tanks under controlled temperatures. The wine is aged exclusively in tank, without any contact with wood, before being sealed with a traditional cork stopper.
