Description
A rich and refined Rosé champagne
The estate
Today, Veuve Clicquot has become a brand with worldwide success. It is the story of a Champagne house whose myth was created by one woman: Madame Clicquot. A brilliant and bold woman, she successfully imposed herself in the business world and became known as "La Grande Dame de la Champagne’’, ‘’the Great Lady of Champagne". Guided by an innate sense of innovation and a perpetual quest for perfection, she invented the riddling table and marketed the first blended rosé champagne. Veuve Clicquot has turned this uncompromising requirement into her motto: "Only one quality, the finest".
The vineyard
La Grande Dame stems from a selection of the most prestigious Grands Crus in the Champagne region.
The wine
Released in 1972 to mark the bicentenary of the Champagne house, "La Grande Dame" pays tribute to Madame Clicquot. A pioneer and visionary woman, Madame Clicquot was known as "La Grande Dame de la Champagne" at the time. It showcases the perfect expression of the Pinot Noir varietal, produced in a signature Veuve Clicquot Ponsardin style.
The blend
The Grande Dame Rosé 2008 comprises a blend of Chardonnay (8%) and Pinot Noir (92%, 14% of which comes from the Clos Colin in Bouzy, one of the historic parcels of the Veuve Clicquot vineyard). Its dosage is 6 g/l.
