Description
The precision of a fresh and fruity Brut Nature rosé champagne
The property
Founded in 1776 in Reims, Louis Roederer is a Champagne House that has managed to remain family-owned and independent. After more than 200 years of existence, the Louis Roederer House is still owned by the same family. Now led by Frédéric Rouzaud, who represents the seventh generation of the family's lineage, Louis Roederer boasts and embodies the excellence of Champagne around the world, through cuvées crafted like works of art.
The vineyard
With nearly 241 hectares of vines, the Louis Roederer House derives its strength from its extraordinary vineyard, made up solely of Grands and Premiers Crus in the Marne Valley, the Montagne de Reims and the Côte des Blancs. A veritable mosaic of terroirs, the Maison Louis Roederer vineyard is divided into 410 plots, reflecting the great diversity of the Champagne region's soils.
The wine
Made exclusively from the Coteaux de Cumières, Brut Nature Rosé by Philippe Starck 2012 is the result of a collaboration between the famous designer Philippe Starck and the prestigious Champagne House Louis Roederer.
The vintage
Despite low yields in 2012, the continental climatic conditions during the end of the season enabled the teams to obtain grapes that reached a rare level of maturity. The grapes resulted in rich and powerful wines that reveal the grandeur of their terroir of origin.
Vinification and ageing
The vinification is carried out in oak for 15% of the wine. No malolactic fermentation. A small proportion of Pinot Noir grapes are vinified separately, "infused" for a few days in the cold before being poured into the Brut Nature Blanc.
The blend
Louis Roederer's Brut Nature Rosé by Philippe Starck 2012 comprises a blend of Pinot Noir (55%), Pinot Meunier (25%) and Chardonnay (20%).
Louis Roederer's Brut Nature Rosé by Philippe Starck 2012: Characteristics and tasting tips
The tasting
Colour
This champagne showcases a beautiful orange colour, shimmering with salmon hues, all highlighting the finesse of the regular effervescence.
Nose
The aromatic expression of the bouquet is marked by the presence of spicy notes reminiscent of Sichuan pepper mixed with beautiful floral notes. Reductive notes then emerge with mocha and roasted aromas. Lastly, the brightness of the fruit appears, with concentrated notes of small red fruits and raspberry.
Palate
The fruity character of this champagne is fully expressed from the outset. The substance reveals all the sap of the Pinot Noir variety with its juicy texture and ripe tannins. The bright fruit provides a sweet sensation with a saline freshness and unique smoky notes that bring out umami flavours on the palate.
