Description

A fresh and complex vintage Brut Champagne by Taittinger

The producer

The history of the Taittinger Champagne House began in the early 20th century. Ran by Pierre-Emmanuel Taittinger and his two children, Clovis and Vitalie, the Taittinger House has managed to preserve its family spirit by producing champagnes that are resolutely Chardonnay in style. Since January 1st 2020, Vitalie Taittinger is the President of the Taittinger Champagne House.

The vineyard

The vineyards owned by the Taittinger Champagne House spread across 288 hectares of vines and include 37 different crus. This makes Taittinger the third largest vineyard in Champagne. The entire vineyard bears a High Environmental Value certificate.

The vintage

A year marked by mild temperatures and rainy spells, 2014 required the utmost vigilance in the vineyard regarding the development of diseases. The work and constant attention carried out by Taittinger's technical teams enabled the harvest to take place from September 8th to 20th - very fine fruit were harvested. The Chardonnay grapes exhibited beautiful floral notes combined with citrus notes, all while revealing a full and acidic mouthfeel. The Pinot Noir grapes exude an alluring and bold expression of white and red fruit while maintaining a structured and fresh liveliness.

Vinification and ageing

The Taittinger Vintage Brut 2014 was aged in cellars for 5 years.

The blend

Taittinger's Vintage Brut 2014 comprises a blend of first press juices made up exclusively of 50% Chardonnay and 50% Pinot Noir. The majority of the grapes come from Grands Crus (70%), while the rest come from villages classified as Premiers Crus (30%).

Vintage Brut 2014 by Taittinger: Characteristics and tasting tips

The tasting

Nose
This champagne has a fresh and delicate aromatic bouquet. Notes of white flowers, reminiscent of lime blossom, honeysuckle and fresh spring flowers, blend with notes of fresh fruit. Notes of dried fruit such as almond emerge before giving way to subtle brioche notes.

Palate
Like a light and graceful ballerina, the palate unfolds a slender and chiselled silhouette. The palate evolves with beautiful citrus notes that lend their beautiful finesse to the generous and structured framework. Elegant and well-balanced, the finish is long and persistent.

Food and wine pairing

This 2014 vintage can be enjoyed on its own and in its youth. With time, this gourmet champagne will complement delicate dishes thanks to its generous structure.

Cellaring

This Taittinger Vintage Brut 2014, embodies the grace and balance of fine years, can be enjoyed now, but also has the potential to evolve over many years.
