Tasting Notes

Nose
The aromatic bouquet reveals juicy fruit scents such as vineyard peach and fresh pear, mingled with touches of candied fruit like dried apricot, quince paste and candied orange. Pastry notes of frangipane, breadcrumb and Viennese bread intertwine with subtle hints of spice, particularly clove and star anise.

Palate
The palate proves opulent, intense and beautifully long. It offers a rich, expressive and structured profile, carried by an excellent balance between fruit ripeness and lovely acidity.

Food and Wine Pairing
This cuvée pairs perfectly with land-and-sea combinations, such as matured beef tartare served with oysters, or vitello tonnato with samphire. It also enhances spiced dishes such as tagines and couscous, grilled or seared seafood, roasted vegetables, as well as caramelised meats like glazed duck or confit pork.

Serving and Cellaring
Vintage 2019 is best enjoyed at a temperature between 10 and 12°C, ideally served in the prestige glasses recommended by the house. With excellent ageing potential, it can be cellared for more than 15 years.

An intense and structured vintage champagne from Veuve Clicquot

The Estate
Founded in 1772 by Philippe Clicquot, the renowned Veuve Clicquot house rose to prominence in the Champagne region thanks to the boldness of Madame Clicquot. Now owned by the LVMH group, controlled by Bernard Arnault, with Thomas Mulliez at its helm, the house enjoys worldwide renown. Its vast vineyard spans nearly 393 hectares, encompassing numerous Grand and Premier Cru sites. Renowned for its excellence and spirit of innovation, the estate carries on a unique style, now overseen by cellar master Didier Mariotti, guardian of the identity of its cuvées.

The Vintage
The year began in Champagne with a cool and particularly wet spring. The season then continued with a hot and very sunny summer, marked by several heatwaves, which allowed the grapes to be harvested in perfect health.

Winemaking and Ageing
The making of Vintage 2019 is characterised by extended ageing on lees. In addition, a small proportion of the wines, representing 13% of the blend, is aged in oak vats, lending distinctive notes to the final cuvée.

60% Pinot Noir, 30% Chardonnay and 10% Meunier.
