Description

An insolent vintage of freshness, minerality and iodized notes

The estate

The Dom Pérignon Champagne takes its name from the famous monk and procurator of the Abbey of Hautvillers in 1668, Pierre Pérignon, known as Dom Pérignon. According to legend, Pierre Pérignon discovered what is now called the Champagne method. As an anecdote, he taught this method in 1669 to the Benedictine Thierry Ruinart, thus enabling Ruinart to become historically the first Champagne House in 1729. Since January 1, 2019, Vincent Chaperon has succeeded Richard Geoffroy as Cellar Master of Dom Pérignon.

The wine

Time is at the heart of the Dom Pérignon equation.” It is thanks to the former Cellar Master of the House, Richard Geoffroy, who embodied the soul of Dom Pérignon for 28 years, that the concept of “Plénitude” was born. Because the expression of a vintage is not fixed in time and evolves in stages, P2, or Second Plénitude, offers a new vision of Champagne after more than 15 years of aging. For each vintage, a limited number of bottles is reserved, destined for longer maturation: Plénitude 2.

The vintage

A year forever etched in the history of Champagne, during which climatic conditions imposed the earliest harvest in the region since 1822. 18 years of aging were necessary to achieve the sought-after harmony and thus offer an insolent freshness to this vintage.

Blend

This 2003 vintage Champagne is derived from a blend of Chardonnay and Pinot Noir.
